Day 1: Vancouver Invitational

Mar. 26, 2010

Round robin play began today at the 11th Annual Vancouver Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament at Bonsor Rec Center in Burnaby, BC. Ten teams from around North America, including many athletes from both the Canadian and American national teams who are training for the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships, will vye for the championship title.

While all of the games featured great action, the best games of the day were saved for last. Team BC and Portland traded the lead back and forth throughout the game. When the dust cleared however, Portland stole the victory from the home team when Team BC was unable to score in its final possession. On the other court, the game between the "At Large" team and the Ontario Thunder remained close throughout, though the Thunder eventually won by two.

Tomorrow, games will be webcast live at http://www.sportscanada.tv/ starting at 9 a.m. PST. For more information on the games, including a schedule, go here.
