On Monday, March 1st, B.C. Finance Minister Colin Hansen put a new spin on the tradition of buying a new pair of shoes on Budget Day. Instead, he strapped into a wheelchair rugby chair and gave the sport a try, then donated a personal cheque of $3,000 to buy new wheels for athletes. B.C. athletes Garrett Hickling, Say Luangkhamdeng, and Byron Green scrimmaged with Hansen in front of the media before the budget was announced. The funds will go to the B.C. Wheelchair Sports Association, which hosts the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships.

After, Hansen told the media that "the press gallery is nothing compared to that scrum."

The 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships would like to thank Minister Hansen for his support.
