Results from the 13th Annual Lakeshore Demolition Derby
National team squads continue their tour of the U.S. at the Lakeshore Demotion Derby.
This weekend, national teams from Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Great Britain continued their tour of the United States and met up with some top American squads at the Lakeshore Demolition Derby in Birmingham, Alabama. For some teams, it was a chance to bounce back after a disappointing performance in Florida last weekend. For others, it was an opportunity to keep the momentum building towards World Championships.
After nearly losing to the Lakeshore Demolition in a round-robin barn burner, Team Canada held on to win the tournament and end their tour of the U.S. undefeated. Great Britain improved on their 5th-place performance in Florida to earn a spot in the bronze medal game. They were, however, bested by the Phoenix Heat, which included players such as Mark Zupan, Scott Hogsett and Japanese star Shin Shimakawa.
The final standings were:
- Canada (6-0)
- Lakeshore Demolition (3-3)
- Phoenix Heat (5-1)
- Great Britain (3-3)
- Sweden / Suède (3-3)
- Germany / Allemagne (2-4)
- Team USQRA (2-4)
- TIRR Texans (0-6)
From here, the national teams will have two months to regroup and train before meeting in Burnaby, BC, Canada at the 11th Annual Vancouver Invitational. For more information on games scores and player rosters, check out http://www.cwsa.ca/derby-10.html
