Florida Bound! Results From the "Knock and Roll" and Coloplast Invitational Tournaments

Florida was the site of some great lead-up tournaments last weekend. First up: the 10th Annual Knock & Roll Wheelchair Rugby Tournament in Lake Worth, which took place from Jan 22 - 24 and featured many of the teams and players preparing for the World Wheelchair Rugby Championships. When the dust cleared, Team Canada came out on top, beating the Lakeshore Demolition (and tournament MVP Bryan Kirkland) 56 to 44.

The final standings were:

  1. Canada (6-0)
  2. Lakeshore Demolition (5-1)
  3. Sweden (4-2)
  4. Denver Harlequins (3-3)
  5. Great Britain (2-4)
  6. Germany (1-5)
  7. Team USQRA (0-6)

In Tampa, another Team Canada squad took on some American teams at the 18th Annual Coloplast Invitational. Team Canada beat hometown favorites the Tampa Generals 47 - 40 to win the tournament. Mike Whitehead, playing for the Tampa Generals, took home the MVP trophy.
