Wow, it is finally 2010, and there is excitement in the air as we head towards three major sporting events here in Richmond, Vancouver and Whistler. Everyone is talking about how they are going to be involved in the Olympics and Paralympics – as a volunteer, fan, spectator, opening ceremonies, torch relay bearer, and so much more. You can feel the electricity now – we are so close.

The Richmond Olympics Oval, the venue for the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships, is in lock-down mode as they prepare for long track speed skating competition. Tents are going up around the perimeter, the broadcast area is being created, staging zones are being erected for community celebrations; it is buzzing with activity.

Post-Olympics the Richmond Olympic Oval phase-three plans are being finalized. The Oval will re-open to the public in the spring. The facility promises to be amazing. The local organizing committee for the 2010 WWRC is working with Oval staff to ensure we deliver a first-class event.

Excitement is definitely in the air and 2010 promises to be a great year!
