Guest Bloggers Needed!

Got a story to tell? We want to hear it!

While the Richmond Oval is getting a test drive thanks to that other sporting event that’s apparently happening this February, we here at BC Wheelchair Sports are putting plans in motion for the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships. It’s only 8 months until we welcome 12 of the best wheelchair rugby teams in the world for 9 days of hard-hitting action.

We’re excited about planning a world championship that will showcase the sport not only to Vancouverites, but also to people worldwide via our live webcasts. Murderball was born here (well, not here exactly, but Winnipeg is close enough) and we want to do the sport proud by making 2010 the best World Championships yet. (After all, that whole Olympics/Paralympics business promises to be quite the opening act. We’ve got a lot to live up to).

That’s why we’re hitting the web to get the word out. You can follow us on Twitter, become fans of the World Wheelchair Rugby Championships on our Facebook page, get the latest information on our website and visit our blog for a behind-the-scenes glimpse from people in the wheelchair-rugby community. In the coming months, we’ll also be offering contests, quizzes, prizes and even free Facebook gifts so that you can get in on the wheelchair-rugby action without the risk of bruising, facial lacerations and/or the distinct feeling that your teeth are going to rattle loose from your skull.

To make this world championship the best it can be, however, we need your help. We’re looking for guest bloggers from the wheelchair-rugby community to give us stories from the front lines. Are you an athlete going through a selection camp? Tell us about it. Are you a coach using the latest technology to get the best from your athletes? Let us know. Whether you’re a fan who’s just returned from watching your first tournament or a retired player who remembers the sport when it was barely legal, we want to hear from you. You don’t even have to have blogging experience; you provide the story and we can help you with the rest.

Our hope is that this blog will be a place where the public gets a taste of stories from around the world that don’t often get written about in the news media. (We promise not to call you inspirational, brave or handi-capable). If you’re interested, contact us at amcneney@2010wwrc.com for all the details.
